Exam Results

I got back my end of year examination results today!!!!
Though I must say that I am not very happy with some of my results, especially my English results. I did not achieve the goals that I had wanted.  Well, anyway, no point crying over spilt milk now, I will work harder next year and achieve better results. For my mathematics examination, I was quite happy with my results as I had achieved my goals not just by one or two marks but actually by a lot. However, I am not going to be complacent. Instead, I am going to work harder, achieving better results for each and every subject as the years pass.

Its still examination period.....

Its still examination period ! I was getting tired of reading and reading and was granted a 30mins break to surf the web when I chanced upon these quotes which I would like to share:

Dr. A. Lawrence LowellOf course there's a lot of knowledge in universities: the freshmen bring a little in; the seniors don't take much away, so knowledge sort of accumulates.......

( SO....... graduates graduate with ??????????? )

Third Law of Applied Terror
80% of the final exam will be based on the one lecture you missed and the one book you didn't read.

( ScArY but it's sort of true............ hope it won't happen to YOU or me. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!! )

On Monday next week, it will be our last paper : Mathematics Paper 2. So, yeah got to go revise now. Sorry for the veryyyyyyyy short post. Bye!

A rainy day

I have always liked rainy days as the weather would be very cooling and nice enough for me to fall asleep. However, yesterday was an exception. Early in the morning, there was a huge downpour. I waited for about fifteen minutes before a bus came!!! As a result, I was almost late for school. Why can't the bus stick on the ususal schedule just because it rains??? Why must there be traffic jam whenever it rains??? The Healthy Lifestyle period was cancelled and everyone stayed in their classes. My form teacher let us watch a movie to pass time. The movie was '' Mr Bean's Holiday''. It was a very hilarious show and everyone laughed their hearts out. Sadly, the show had to be stopped as it was the next period- Maths lesson. : (  After that, the rest of the day passed by as usual. Soon, it was dismissal. I stayed back awhile to do my literature project work before heading home.

CIP work at Woodlands Waterfront park

Last Wednesday, my school held an Environment Cleaning Community Involvement Programme. It was held at Woodlands Waterfront park. My class and I took an approximately half an hour walk from our school to the park. Upon reaching the park, we formed into groups of ten and each group was given a big black plastic bag to contain the litter that we picked up. My group and I went to different areas in the park and picked up lots and lots of litter!!! As I picked up all the litters, I was furious by these inconsiderate actions by the visitors of the park!!! My group and I had lots of fun interacting with each other while picking up the litters left behind by inconsiderate people. After about half an hour of picking up litter, we assembled at a playground in the park. At the playground, we were given permission to play for awhile before setting off, back to school. By the time we reached school, it was already 5.40 pm. Upon dismissal from the school, I rushed off immediately for my tuition lesson. When my tuition class ended at 6.30 pm, I trudged back wearily home. I was exhausted. To end it all, I felt happy about helping to clean up the park though it was very tiring. From this event, I have learnt that we should not litter as it would harm and pollute the earth and environment. We should dispose our rubbish appropriately by throwing them into the rubbish bins. We should also make an effort to REDUCE, RECYCLE AND REUSE!!! :)

Kusu Island

Early this year, our class went to kusu island for our first learning journey in secondary school. When Kusu island was finalised as our destination, few of my classmates groaned and protested as they had already gone to the island several times and was quite familiar with the place thus felt that it was very boring. On the day of the trip itself, we took a very long but fun bus ride. Everybody was chatting happily away with their friends. Tidbits were passed around and games were played. Soon, we reached the place where we took a ferry to Kusu Island. During the trip, I sat with my friends HL, RT, JJ, KW and Wasabi. The uneven , rolling small waves shook and rocked the ferry from time to time. Soon all of us felt sea sick. However, we ate some chips and sweets and after awhile, all of us felt better. Upon arriving at the island, we read about the history of the island. We went to a few temples and came across a wishing well. Along the way, we also saw tortoises. They were so cute!!! At the wishing well, my friends and I threw coins at the three ''bowls'' in the lotus flower shaped wishing well, hoping that the coins would get in so we could make a wish. However, our tries were futile as none of us got our coins in the ''bowls''. At the end of the trip, we did a short reflection before taking another ferry and bus ride back to school before heading home. Overall, majority said that the place was very boring. However, to me, the trip to Kusu Island was quite interesting as I had gained information on the place! : )

My weakness in English

My weakness in English is that sometimes I have difficulty in completing the comprehension questions as quickly as I wish I could. I need to take quite some time to understand the passage, reading through a few times which was impossible during exam due to the time frame. I am quite weak in my usage of own words question as I need to replace penalty words with synonyms. I am also quite weak in my summary paraphrasing too.

Mother Tongue Brew

Last Thursday, an event was held in my school after school. It was called ‘’ Mother Tongue brew’’. The participants were the whole of secondary one and two students. At 3 p.m. sharp, everybody assembled at the indoor sports hall. After settling down, a teacher gave us a short briefing on what the event was about an d what to do. The event was actually for us to learn more about other cultures through different activities.  After the briefing, we went back to our classroom where there were some activities planned for us. In all there were two activities. The first was a malay traditional game called ’’ Congkak’’. This game required two players. I played with my friend HL. After that, we did bean art. For this activity, we were competing against the other classes. I did a pineapple by using the template given by the instructor. A few best bean art done by my classmates were chosen to participate in the competition. At the end of the day, we were allowed to bring home our own art piece. If I am not wrong, the results for the competition will be announced next week. I am so looking forward to the results! Overall, I had a really fun day.

The September school holidays

Awwww!!! The September school holiday is over. Let me share with everybody what I had done during the holidays. On Monday, I went to my friend HL’s house to do our project work. On Tuesday, early in the morning, I went to my friend’s house to help her with her homework. After her homework was done, we watched some television programs and went online on Facebook via her laptop. Soon, it was lunchtime and her grandmother cooked lunch for us to eat. Her grandmother cooked nasi lemak. The food was so delicious that I had quite a big serving. Yum! J After my lunch, I went  home to do my own homework. On Tuesday , I went to my friend’s house again. On Wednesday, I went to her house again, however at about noon time, I left her house and went to watch a movie with my family. The movie was ‘’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2’’ I am not really a fan of harry potter though but I just went to watch the movie to make the whole episode complete as I had watched the previous movies. After watching the show, I felt that the movie was not as exciting as it felt when reading the book, however, I had a whale of a time that day. Overall I enjoyed my holidays though I did not do anything special or fantastic J!

Sand Amination

Last month, a very interesting activity was held for us, Art Club members. It was 'Sand Animation'. There were four sessions in total. Most of the Art Club members paricipated in this activity, however it was a sad thing that the secondary 4 students were not allowed to participate as they were going to have their 'O'level' examinations. During the first session, there were two proffessional instructors to teach us the basics of sand animation and explain to us what it is all about. Then we were separated into several groups with the usual format of having at least two different level of students in the group. Next we proceeded to explore with the sand. My group consisted of a secondary 2 student and two of my friends, HL and Tiff. On the second session, we were given a task to do. We had to create a scene with the sand using the sand animation techniques that were taught to us. On the third session, we were asked to record the scene that we did one group by one group. While waiting for our turn, HL, Tiff and I played a game called '' Ants attack'' with another of our friend, JH, from another group. We laughed continuously and played happily. HL, JH and I teamed up and attacked Tiff's sand boundary. On the last session, we were taught how to edit the video of the scene we had done, along with the other scenes from the other groups to form a complete video. It was truly a one in a lifetime experience for me. During the four weeks, I had enjoyed myself greatly and learnt lots and lots of new things. I will never forget this experience that I had.

A fun day

On one of the fridays, during my CCA, Art Club, there was an interesting and fun game organised by the Art Club committee. The committe had created their very own version of ''Amazing Race''. We were divided into groups of four, with at least two different levels of students inside. Then, each group was given a clue each and the game started. My group members consisted of two secondary two students and one secondary three student. I was the only secondary one student. The first clue took us quite some time to figure out. Upon deciphering the clue, we rushed to our first destination, hoping to be the first group to reach as we were competing with the other groups. To our dismay, we reached there as the second group. Our first game was to complete a maze while being blindfolded, with only one of the members to guide us. We were not allowed to bump into any of the obstacles. Upon bumping into the obstacle, the game would have to be restarted. Our group took some time to complete the game as on the first try, I accidentaly bumped into one of the obstacle. (hehe, sorry team mates) Upon accomplishing the game, we had a second clue and rushed to the next destination. During the game, we got dirty with flour and wet with water but it was worthwhile. We finished the game, coming in third among all the other groups. During the game, we worked together as a team and increased the bond between each other. We also developed team spirit. At the end of the Art Club session, all of us were rewarded with some packets of snacks!!!! (Yeah!!!! :) ) It was truly an exciting and fun day.

June Holiday

During the june holiday, my father and I went to watch Kung Fu Panda 2. It was so awesome! It was very thrilling, filled with action-packed stunts. I have no preference of character as each of them has their own speciality and strengths. Their own uniqness makes them bond toghether and make a perfect team when fighting. During the show there are parts which sparked laughter throughout the theatre. Overall, I feel that the movie is a very good one as it relates to the audience the story through a balanced mix of feelings and emotions. I feel that the movie does not neccessarily to be only targeted at children only. Adults and teenagers should also watch it because the story sends a very meaningful message to the audience about teamwork and sacrifice which surpasses the marvelous fighting throughout the movie. Of course, only if one truly understands the movie rather than just watching it for the actions packed inside. I feel that understanding about team spirit can help us later on in life, be it in terms of work, playing games, organising events or other activities. It will also help us to be co-operative as a team and work toghether towards our goals. To sum it all, all I want to say is that I recommend everyone to watch Kung Fu Panda 2 if you have not done so! : )  ( Provided if it is still showing in the cinemas)
